(http://www.mindspring.com/~jdrobin) Notes: Rename to .scr for screensaver. ---------- * Original Readme File Follows *------------------- 1) Name Cosmos-1 Screen Saver & Blob Screen Toaster (demos) 2) Description -1 Cosmos Screen Saver and Blob Screen Toaster Demos 3) Abstract This program consists of two demos of embryonic screen savers. Blob Screen Toaster features real-time tessellation (geometry generation) of a changing blob, rendered with dynamic Phong shading and environment mapping. Cosmos-1 shows real-time animation of a system of interacting particles, modeling a toy cosmos with some special effects. 4) Authors Sérgio Duarte Fernando Birra 5) This program was submitted to the second programming contest promoted by Operation 3DFX (www.op3dfx.com), corresponding to entry #121. 6) Distribution This demo program is freely distributable by 3Dfx Inc. and All Games Network Inc. Third party distribution requires written permission by the authors. Copyright of this program remains with the authors. 7) Bugs/Compatibility The program requires a 3DFX Voodoo Graphics card and had been successfully tested with a Righteous 3D and a Monster 3D, on both Windows 95 and Windows NT. Voodoo Rush compatibility was not tested for and is unknown. 8) Additional Information. The program was tested on a Pentium 166 MMX and a Pentium 233MHZ. CPU speed has a noticeable positive effect on frame rate (lower left counter) on Blob. Blob gets to around 20 frames/sec with the 166MHZ and reaches around 30 with the 233 MHz. The Cosmos-1 demo stays mostly at 30 frames/sec. To get more you have to disable vsync by hand, however some internal timings are designed for 30 frames/sec. Cosmos-1 get a while to warm up. Please take notice that every 60 seconds, give or take a few seconds explodes a supernova... 9) It is possible that, in the future, this program will be further updated.
