Message to Hannibal... I got your point(s) (8000 in total that is, hehe...) This demo was supposed to be longer, but due to some circumstances it ended up a lot shorter.... Space-Cut... The Reminder Party Invitation 2 Proudly presented to you by... Introduction and Instructions As written before, this demo was planned to be longer but due to some circumstances we had to let go some of our ideas. Especially Dope's work took a lot of his energy away and that caused some major delays. Sorry about that. - 1 - Anyway, up or down selects the different texts. Left and right flip the pages. No Menu is selectable but we hope it won't kill your party-lust. Finally, different scrollers can be chosen, using the function-keys. - 2 - We made about 11 texts 1) Introduction (this one) 2) What and When 3) Where 4) About Food 5) About the Mess 6) Facilities for you, listed below.. Competitions (7 Who Are We? (8 Adresses (9 Credits (10 Some rumours (11 - 3 - Furthermore, there are 10 sc F1) Dope's (current one) F2) SpraWL's F3) Jerry's F4) Fox's F5) Wizz' rollers available for you... Boulderbrain's (F6 eFBe's (F7 Alcoholic's (F8 Facet and Nao's (F9 Greetings (F10 - END - What and When is it? Somewhere In Holland organised by White labeL The Party will be held at the 14th and 15th of August 1993. We start at Saturday the 14th of August at noon. That's Twelve 'o clock in the morning, for the not so talented people amoung - 1 - us... (right Dope?? -Ed) The last visitors will be asked to leave at Sunday the 15th around ten 'o clock in the evening... For the carefull reader, this is a different time than mentioned in Invitation 1 and several magazines but as we had so much response we extended the party-time. - 2 - In case more people show up, we might continue the 16th so inform your mum about that (hehe). The entrance price is the reasonable amount of 15 Dutch Guilders. We do NOT exept other currencies. You can change your currency at the border, or at the local train station. - 3 - By the way, women have free entrance! So if she wants to, bring your girly! At night there are lots of thing to do so when you get bored of computing all day, (can that be??) you can watch a nice video, especially imported from Amsterdam by Nao / Lemon. When you are able to bring your own videos, please do so. By the way, there in an extra - 4 - competition, the first one to bring Global Trash II, the Video, will get a special price! Read more about this in the competitions section... - END - Where can we find the party?? Well, when you are in holland, look at your map and search for -> NIJMEGEN <- It won't be very hard to find, because it is one of the bigger cities in the EAST of Holland. When you enter the city, just look for the place where the trains arrive, yes... the station! - 1 - From there it must be very easy to get at the place called: 'Het Kolpinghuis' because it is not more then a five minutes walk. When you see the two signs saying 'Het Kolpinghuis' (blue) and saying 'Heineken bier' (red) you must go a very strange way to mis it. In case you DO miss it, ask around, most people living in the city know where it is hiding it's face for you. - 2 - To be very sure, we'll give you the address: Het Kolpinghuis, Smetiusstraat 1, Nijmegen But just ask around, everybody really knows the place!! - END - Food and Drinks Food and drinks cannot be brought with you. Everything can be bought against reasonable prices. In the Kolpinghuis itself you can buy everyting including the more alcoholic things like whiskey and vodka. Beer is ofcourse present in lots of gallons... - 1 - Food. Well, we do not sell food but at the opposite of the building are 3 (three!) cafetarias wich are open all night! Furthermore there is some Greek Chinese and Yougoslavian restaurant in the area. If you are hungry, you will have no troubles of finding a place to eat. PLEASE DO NOT BRING YOUR OWN FOOD AND DRINKS, IT WILL BE TAKEN AWAY!! - END - Why should I make a mess? Well, you should not!!! But we will clean the place every hour anyway. The toilets will be done ofcourse too. In case you get nasty, you'll be kicked out by 2 professional bounchers. REMEMBER, Somewhere In Holland is a LEGAL party!! We will call the police if you make too much trouble!! - 1 - Walls do NOT like stickers. That also counts for tables, ceilings, floors, chairs and all other furniture you can eventually think of! The same thing is ofcourse for the people who like making graffity inside a building! PLEASE DON'T! - 2 - Facilities. Well, the list of things there are to do... First of all, we have a 6 sq. metres big screen. On this there will be MTV, demos, the rules for the competition, some other genlocked shit and much, much more... - 1 - A big board on the wall will indicate where the discos, cinemas, restaurants and bars are that are worth going to. For the cinemas there will be some info on the movies that are playing. As mentioned, we have a cleaning team that makes sure the place stays neat and tidy. People can't piss strait at the toilets will clean it once more! - 2 - For the people that cannot behave proper, we have hired two professional bouncers, to prevent troublemakers for making too much trouble. Remember: SIH is a LEGAL party, so when we cannot handle it, we'll call the police! When the party is going along for a while, we have some professional DJ-s to entertrain you. - 3 - We will have GROUNDED power supplies for the main power, but you will have to bring your own GROUNDED supply for your own use. We have a professional electrician present all day and night to prevent power failures and other things. Not grounded means NO power!!! - 4 - We will have a show where you can buy several things. Mostly disks will be sold (probably) but it will be opened 24 hours a day. - END - The Competitions!! Like every party, Somewhere in Holland has a couple of nice competitions. The deadlines have been changed! Because of the fact that we go on longer as stated in the first invitation, we moved the deadlines to noon, Sunday the 15th. That's (once again) twelve 'o clock in the morning. - 1 - Notice that all competitions have the same deadline, so, be sure to deliver your entry in time! Now for the prices. Because you do not know us well (or not at all) we cannot afford us to give Aars-like prices. Because most visitors will be Dutch, we'll pay out in Dutch guilders. You can change this to your own currency - 2 - at one of the local change offices in town, or at the station. Ok, here we go... Music Compo: 200 Dutch Guilders Graphic Compo: 200 Dutch Guilders Demo Compo: 600 Dutch Guilders Extra Compo: A free antrance (The first to bring Global Trash II) - 3 - We only have first prices, that's for the same reason as stated before. For the music and graphics compo the competteting file must be the first one in the root directory. All entries must be in BEFORE the deadline, Sunday 12:00h and they must be never released before the 'Somewhere in Holland' party. - 4 - Music must be loadable from protracker 2.2a, Graphics must be loadable from DPaint 4.1. Demos have to boot automaticly after inserting disk when workbench-hand is shown. They must run on both a A500, 0.5/0.5 Chip/Fast and a A500+ standard 1.0 Mb Fast. - END - Who the hell is White labeL?? The fact that you probably never heard of us is that we will officially enter the scene with this party. WL has exis ted for quiet a while, and was mainly founded for fun and friendship. After a while we got interested in certain things, and we grew out to something worth calling a group. - 1 - It took ofcourse some time to develop, but when you do something just for fun I think it doesn't matter that much. We are quiet selective with our mem- bers. When, for exemple Facet or Nao of Lemon. asked to join us, we would not let them as they are mega-jerks !! Naah, really guys, thanks again for the picture, the music and the sheets! - 2 - Our actual m Dope............... Boulderbrain....... SpraWL............. Jerry.....Graphics Zenon.............. Well, we can say it's NOT (why would be release this invitation, eh?). - More and more people are coming! We had never thought of such a response but a lot of people are coming. - 1 - - T-Shirts are available at the party! 2 sides, 2 colours. Only 20 Dutch Guilders. We have 50 of them so be quick to get one out this exclusive set of 50. - A lot of guys are working on compo- productions. We are SURE of 3 demos: Zite productions, Lemon. and Mirage - 2 - -Zite Productions is working on a demo and the rumours say it is going to win the demo-compo for sure. Paradroid/Lemon. is working on a trackmo. We have never seen something of Paradroid before, but he has been working on the trackmo for some time. We'll see if it makes some difference. - 3 - Mirage, finally is going for the doll, too. 'Old-known' Crackerjack is doing the code and he'll probably show us his guts. BTW: He promised he would finish the demo BEFORE the party this time, instead of finishing it AFTER the dealine (hehe, source: Magic/cyanide) - Finally, a lot of people are working on tunes etc. - 4 - - Somewhere In Holland is officially pronounced: Somewhere In Holland - The White labeL Party, and not - The White Lamer Party - Wizz and Boulderbrain left their former group Digital Projects to join WL. There were some troubles wich will NOT be explained in more details. - 5 - Their functions are: Wizz........Sysop - The Southern Tribe Boulderbrain.....Coding, Maths Support - White labeL got a new board called Sticky Fingers. The sysop is Alcoholic Ok, guys... that's it. Fill up your mags and feel free to send us an issue (hehe). - TOTAL END - Finished... At LAST!!! Ok, crunch it, save it THAT'S IT Let's see if it will be worth it (I might hope soor else, We'll loose 1676,76 True Dutch guil-ders. 1 USD=1.80 DG Dope's here.... At this moment I am peacefully listening to the tune Walkabout Adventure by Lizardking (great music!) but the last 2 weeks were more like a hell than a peacefull tune. Due to my work grabbing all my energy away I had absolutely no possablility to do something about the reminder. At this very moment I finished it, except for the scroller in the endpart, that is: the routine is finished but all scrollers must be crunched and inserted. This demo is my first ''real'' demo on amiga and I can say I like the result, although much more was planned to be in here. Let's say, it's too bad... Currently I am wearing a Somewhere In Holland t-shirt. I picked them up yesterday at the printer's and I realy like them.... - Advert coming up - You can all buy a SIH T-Shirt at the party for the cheap price of 20 Dutch Guilders. It's printed on 2 sides. Front side is a little logo on the breasts in one colour (black). The backside is a full-size picture in 2 colours (red and black). It's the logo again on top of it and below of the logo we can see the map of Holland with latitude degrees on it. The lattitude degrees are in black and so are the important rivers etc. The surroundings of Holland are in red and the area that contatins Nijmegen is in red totaly. It looks realy nice.... We only have 50 of them so if you want to have one, be quick at the party. You can ofcourse buy them at the shop inside the building. Next, I want to welcome our new members: Wizz, Boulderbrain, eFBe and Alcoholic. Actually, Wizz joined about 2 months ago but it hasn't been stated anywhere yet. It was about 2 weeks after the release of the Invitation 1. Another week later Boulderbrain joing us. They both came from the unknown group Digital Projects. Their opinion about that group could be stated as being "lazy", "unproductive", "not-coorporating" etc. It was a goup, more for the fun and the beer than for the productions. Ok, beer's great, friendship is fantastic but products are sometimes a neccety. Anyway, more detailes will not be given as it's simply not your business (and in that way I won't hurt anyone). eFBe, my brother joined about a month ago as being a paper-designer for invitations, T-Shirts (see the SIH T-Shirt), entrance cards etc. He is absolutely not in the scene (in the matter of fact, he hardly knows how to turn on a computer, hehe) but is allways recommended for great and perfect paper-design... Alcoholic, finally, also known as Alco joined a couple of weeks ago as being our second (and probably last) sysop. It's because he's a nice guy, but also for his sysop-qualities. Besides that, it must have been a nice company to Wizz (haha... is hij niet meer alleen hehe). Actually you should be happy to have the reminder allready now as my hard-disk had this tremendous headdache (cq head-crash). No, the problem was smaller as thought of at first instance but still, it got me panicked as the crash happened a day before the release of the demo. Happily Wizz was so 'gratefull' to give me a slight hand and so he let me download quarterback tools again. (actually, my old quarterback got lost while optimizing using ReOrg). Well, anyway, the demo is finished now and the result looks 'fine'... Ok, here come a few messages.... 't Vaan/Dreamdealers: Send me your PhoneNumber, I couldn't get it at the international service. Vodka/Digital: The same for you pal, send me your phonenumber. BTW: it's very easy to get from Rotterdam to Nijmegen by train. When you arrive at Rotterdam Station just look at the time-tables (yellow) and you'll see that every once in a while a train goes straight to Nijmegen. Just get on the train in Rotterdam and get off the train again in Nijmegen.... Quite easy, so to say... Well, that's it for now.... get on with another scroller. /Dope... Well, ok. They said I had to type some more text for the reminder... I only have half an hour, so I think it will not be a very long scroller... To start this text as unoriginal as possible, I will introduce myself to you. I am SpraWL. I did all the graphics for the demo (exept the one signed with 'FACET'. Thanks again mate...), and all the designing things are ideas from my silly mind. In the beginning it was meant to be a realbig demo, with lots of graphics and lots of new effects, but as I am a bit lazy, the graphics didn't go along that much. Dopey hwever, was very active (like he says) and therefore he has not done many things on the new effects. Personally I think it doesn't make any sence, but then again, , ehm, then again... ehrm... well... what? I dunno ?!?!? Great, lost my mind. (did I?), ehrm yes, where was I? Hmmm. I think it is done with the normal boring shit, on with the next boring stuff... my personal greets. Oh no, not that again... yes, I really think so... To start with, I want to sent my big thanks to Facet and Nao of Lemon. They really did a great job on our demo and for the party, (remind that they did NOT organize a thing), I really love these guys... (no, no, NOT that way, sorry...) Next great guy I want to thank is ofcourse Dope. I am really sorry that you didn't have more time to do more effects, but I know you did whatever you could. (Next time START sooner with asking a couple of days off, not two weeks AFTER the deadline...)... Great, who's next on the list. Zenon. Sure. Thanks for lending me your HardDisk for this very short while. I really did have some fun with it... (not much that is...) To t'Vaan / Dream Dealers. Have we met...? Spike / Silicon Ltd. Who didn't sent who this loooong time...? I guess I did... I will look for more time... Hammerfist / Intense: Hmm, yes. I think the same is for you... (by the way, to ALL my contacts. I can name them all, but I think I quit swapping. It really takes too much of my time. With my new study I think it will be too buzy for me... sorry, but I let you know when I think of starting again... Well, time's up, (yes I know, I don't type very fast, but hey, I am a Graphician (ain't I ???)) OK, I guess I'll be seeing you, Somewhere In Holland... /SpraWL in 1993... -
