"Exclusive Interview With Quisling"
Sodium (Acrylic Weekly Supervisor and Layout Manager)
as appeared in Acrylic Weekly issue Nine.

Sodium:
"So tell us a little bit about yourself. Perhaps your age, music preference, residence, credit card numbers, etc."

Quisling:
"Well Sodium, can I call you Na?"

Sodium:
"Sure."

Quisling:
"I'm twenty, and currently a bachelor. Right now I'm listening to FTZ (Produced by Malceum), but I suppose I'm into the 'alternative' stuff; techno, house, industrial, some rap and jazz. I'm living in a fraternity right now (Sigma Tau Gamma) here in 'Greek Town' at the University of Missouri at Columbia."

Sodium:
"About when did you get involved with the Art Scene?"

Quisling:
"Well Na, I started back in my tenth grade year, so about four years ago in a little local art group called 'Crime'. I dunno what it stood for, but we made something up."

Sodium:
"What medium did you use in the early days?"

Quisling:
"Well, I started out using Corel Draw 3.0 and then touching stuff up in Corel Paint. It was pretty primative stuff and I wasn't very good back then. Someone gave me a copy of Photoshop after I failed miserably at trying ansi."

Sodium:
"What do you use today to create your popular hi-resolution designs?"

Quisling:
"Photoshop 4.0. 'It's the program of choice for anyone who's anybody.' I think I'm someone, or so somebody said."

Sodium:
"Ok, now can you explain the whole Visigoth versus Quisling thing to our newer readers?"

Quisling:
"Well, He and I used to be good friends and stuff. I wasn't too bothered by his ego so much as his overwhelmingly negative outlook on life and his individual talents. Seemingly a contradiction in terms and all, but perhaps the ego was just to cover overwhelming insecurity.

But never the less, he and I were cool. Then I asked him to do some work for m fraternity, namely to design a t-shirt for our philanthropy. So he was all cool about that. I asked him about it one day and he just started ripping on fraternities for no apparent reason."

Sodium:
"Of course, frat-boys are useless."

Quisling:
"So I kinda got really pissy with him and told him not to bother with the t-shirt that I'd get it from someone else. (On average those in fraternities get a higher GPA than those not, and we do shitloads of community service.) So he got really defensive and pissy. After that it was all just down hill...

And then I'm not sure what exactly sparked all of the back and forth shit, oh yeah, he was getting really pissy with Hack about the bot taking him off of it cause he deoped the bot once when they wouldn't op catbones...

And so I kicked him from #acid and he got all pissed off that I wasn't letting speak and I was taking away one of his most fundamental rights as an individual, that of 'free speech'.

So then I wrote that text file and stuff and it just got way out of hand.

That's about it. We just decided to leave each other alone. I'm so incredibly busy now anyways that I don't have much time for the scene anymore."

Sodium:
"Yes, the Visigoth text file. Can you give us this jist of what it said?"

Quisling:
"Basically some early quote from him regarding his insecurity. Then some stuff from him where he was threatening my life, over the fucking internet no doubt. (He said) that he could do anything he wanted to me at any time and I'd never know it was him nor suspect it. Some crap like that. You know Visi, king of the Underworld, the Godfather himself."

Sodium:
"Ok,.now shortly after this incident you were 'asked to leave Acid Productions'. If you don't mind me asking, what was the main reason for your forced resignation?"

Quisling:
"The main reason. Okay. About six months prior to all of this Radman gave me a collection of .jpgs from some con. He wanted me to make some sort of collage with 'em. Now he told me to put this last priority and that anything else should come first (as far as graphics are concerned). So I did just that, and I had plenty of work to do for other companies that I was getting paid for. So then he finally asked me, just prior to being kicked out, if I still had them and if they were done yet. I said I didn't and that they had been deleted. He asked me when I was going to tell him this and I said 'I dunno.' So he got all pissed off and called me unreliable and said that I wasn't wanted anymore.

Sodium:
"What is your current opinion of Acid Productions?"

Quisling:
"I really don't have one. I haven't looked at a pack in a long time. Radman is a pretty pathetic leader, I mean releasing packs three weeks late is just pathetic. I don't think they released ontime at all while I was in the group. That's just lame. I understand that he has a 'life' and stuff, but shit, I've got a life and I'd still jabe time to do things like put a zip file together."

Sodium:
"Now to move away from this subject. Who have been some primary inspirations for your work as far as artists and music type stuff go?"

Quisling:
"To be totally honest, I don't get inspired by anything in particular. ImageX has a really nice style and actually did some work for a page that I'm going to be working on. However, his style does get a little bit old. Never the less, in all honesty, I'm rather self-inspired.

Sodium:
"Alot of true talent and ideas come from within."

Quisling:
"Add yet another member to the 'Quisling Fan Club' : Shadow of iCE. :)"

Sodium:
"Who do you see as powerful, reliable, hard working, people on the scene? (group leaders, weekly magazine supervisors, etc.)"

Quisling:
"Woah, That's kinda hard to say. Well, Cat, just cause I know him personally. Wired is a really hard working guy too. He's taking on the challenge of designing a St. Louis web page for the city without living there yet and without much help. But the page looks kick ass so far. Xten is really cool too and is a hard worker when he puts his mind to it. He just got a graphics job in D.C.. Considering that Acrylic is on it's 8th issue you're doing pretty spiffy yourself. As far as others, I really don't know any newbies well enough, but from the oldskewl, MassDelusion, Anarchy, and Aphidtwix."

"Besides all of that, Anarchy is just plain hot. :)"

Sodium:
"Well, are you enjoying yourself in Twilight?"

Quisling:
"Well, I havne't had much time to do anything for it recently. I'm hardly online at all much recently other than tonight. There just isn't a common drop point for art yet which makes it difficult, yet we do have a growing VGA staff. We're up to 3 now... :)"

Sodium:
"As the new millenium approaches, what do you see as your future on the scene?"

Quisling:
"Gone. I've already gone full time professional as far as art is concerned. I'm in school for advertising and graphic art, the scene is just annoying now."

Sodium:
"And finally, is there anything you'd like to shout out or whatever? This is your free space."

Quisling:
"Greetz. Shit, I don't know who reads this thing... :)

HI MOM!!! I don't think she'll ever see that, but well you know. I guess greetz to all the highrez people in iCE, ACiD, and Dark, and some of the guys on #ansi. I don't know many of these new kiddies and stuff but anyone who thinks they know me or that we're aquantances or whatever insert your name here, ___________."

Sodium:
"Thanks for your time. I am sure the readers of Acrylic Weekly enjoyed getting to meet someone of your stature, and history, and fame, and bullshi.. errr.. benevolence."

Quisling:
"Heh Heh. No problem. :)"

Sodium:
"Good night."
