Even though I have warnings on my site about removing my artwork, it still gets stolen. This time it was by a guy named DarkFlare of ActiveFuel. He ripped my personal logo, butchered it up nicely, and used it to win a contest for Hugi Disk Magazine. If you'd like to see what this asshole did, check out http://davinci.ice.org/rip_offs2.htm

If anyone knows how to contact DarkFlare or the group ActiveFuel, please contact me at davinci@ice.org Thanks, DaVinci

davinci, are those borders you're using from clipart or ornamental design sheets? if they are, you are considered a ripper too =)

i didnt know demoskeneboys are ripping, i just thought all they do is scan chickfaces and claim them to be "no scan's" or "no copy's". how lame...

Those borders DaVinci does are NOT from clip art or design sheets. Everything he does is original and digital, no scanning. He is an engraver (and a damn good one) by trade, which is where those intricate borders come from. You can see examples of his engraving at http://davinci.ice.org -- click on "My Non-computer art" on the navigation bar.

(I don't know if he reads these discussions regularly, so I'm replying.)

Really, DaVinci is a professional engraver in real life and he is really good at it. Just look at the photos of his engravings on his site.

No, I can assure you that I don't use clipart for any of my work and I'm not a ripper. That ornate border work comes from my background as a hand engraver, and I've use some of the same design techniques in my digital art. Unfortunately, it's designed in such a way that someone can modify it for their own use, and this is what i've been victim to.
As an update, Darkflare's name has been totally ruined in the art/demo scene, his group ActiveFlare (who, unknown to me, had pirated ANOTHER logo from my site and was using it for thier web page!) has now disbanded. The only unfinished business is Hugi Disk Mag which continues to use my artwork in their closing screen, and I'm hoping that can be rectified shortly.

yeah. just wanted to make sure =).
i mean, if you take some design books of ornaments whatever, and draw after that it's ripping imo. when you generate those by yourself that's different world.

i don't care 'bout copyrights or stuffs like that, i think about the artist who has generated the style or the original work. thinking about some old artists, selling out with posters of their stuff, using the shit on advertisements, making profit generally etc.
causes rather the "bullet to the head" attitude instead of just "ripping".
