I'm glad you are that happy =)
My dad is a photographer, and I've read a lot of his photo journals, specifically the digital photomanip sections. I appreciate photomanips a lot, but since I don't do them myself, it's a lot more difficult to analyze them. I trying to do my best =)

mongi: I think we'd be interested to hear what the names of the journals are.. and where the photomanip articles can be found.

I'll tell you as soon as I get home, I don't remember the name of them. It's one British journal where the digital section is a seperate thingy, and an US journal.

Alright.. one i called British Journal of Photography, and their digital section is called British Journal of Digital Imaging. They were the only mags worth saving. The US crap is trashed ;)

Well, you can check out Design Graphics... An Australian production. It's pretty cool for what it has got in it. Their webpage is at www.designgraphics.com.au

Dhabih Eng is a pretty decent scene-type-but-not-in-the-scene digital artist. His site is http://www.sijun.com/dhabih/. Most of his art is based on video games, and he's done a few covers for Electronic Gaming Monthly and shtuff.

When I first got into digital art, my only ambition was to be better than him, but I'm starting to go in a very different direction now.

Anyway, now, my ambition is to simply be better than everyone. :)

I came across:

today. This guy very successfully integrates 3D backgrounds with 2D digitally painted characters. Pretty good stuff.

That guy is good FB, but I hate when it looks like the artist spent 400 hours modeling and texturing just to put their character in a dark room. I understand the need for dramatic lighting, but when the entire scene is really dark it doesn't make much sense to me. Unless they are trying to cover mistakes?

(yes, I turned the brightness on my monitor is the whole way up) :P

The 3D stuff is mainly the architecture. All the characters are hand-painted, and that's the part I was impressed with.

There's an exhibition of art from Euro / Amiga digital artists in Austin, Texas right now.
I don't have an address for it, unfortunately, but it looks real smoov.
