Simucube 64 v2 for Zooparty 2026
---------------------------------
By AK and Vallatron from Simucube

Second completely redone version of the C64 racing controller setup, this time with force feedback effects.

Simucube equipment used: Simucube 2 Sport, Simucube Passive Pedals, Simucube Link Wheel Module (display unit)
Display unit is the same platform as used on Assembly Summer 2026 real wild demo Harmonic Interference (https://demozoo.org/productions/395367/)

Game effects
- Buggy Boy modified by TNT (big thanks!) to output collision events through user port, used to trigger effects
- Wheel position controls input pulse rate to provide a more analog steering feel to games with digital inputs
- 4 channel DAC to provide analog voltages to joystick analog inputs for games with analog support
- Throttle input increases road rumble effect on the wheel to make it feel a bit more alive

Connections
- Wheelbase directly connected to display unit microcontroller with USB, no PC used in between
- Joystick controlled through I2C I/O expander board
 - C64 isolated through I2C isolator
 - Switch to select joystick port to send wheel position
- User port used to get data out to display unit MCU (modified games can send events, game menu sends game ID and hardware test debug values)
- Cartridge has external controls for C64 reset + Pico reset + EXROM state to enable automatic jump to cartridge and to disable it on command

Self designed electronics: display module MCU board, I2C joystick port, user port adapter (+wheelbase)

AI info
- Claude Code used to make a game menu on the Raspberry Pico based cartridge and to speed up development on display module
