It is very important that the downloaded driver file is expanded correctly. If the driver is expanded incorrectly, the driver files will overwrite each other and become corrupt. As a result, the setup program will not run successfully and the tablet driver will not be installed. To ensure that the driver file is expanded correctly follow these steps:
Note: To follow these instructions the user must be able to identify the following parts of the PC: keyboard, 3.5-inch floppy drive and diskette, and mouse. In addition, the user must be able to open Windows Explorer (or File Manager) and navigate on the desktop using drop-down menus.
1. Create a directory on C:\ drive called "TABLET".
2. Download the Wacom tablet driver to the C:\TABLET directory.
3. Insert a blank, formatted 1.44 megabyte floppy disk into the appropriate disk drive.
4. Open an MS-DOS window.
5. At the command prompt (in the MS-DOS window) type "CD \TABLET" and press Return. The prompt should now read C:\TABLET.
6. At the C:\TABLET prompt type "DIR". The directory list should show one file, PC250a.EXE.
7. Next, type "PC250a -D A:" (or "PC250a -D B:" depending on the letter designation of the floppy drive).
8. The file expansion utility will display this message: "This file contains sub-directories. Please decompress them using the -D option. Do you want to extract these files now (Y/N)?" Press "Y" and Enter.
All of the driver files will then be expanded to the floppy drive (A:\ or B:\). When the files have been successfully expanded the C:\TABLET prompt will reappear. Do not eject the floppy diskette from the drive.
9. Type "EXIT". This will close the MS-DOS window and re-open the Windows desktop.
